Today. D-Day, 70 years ago.

Dad was there, flying daytime low level photo recon. Dad passed on quite a few years ago, and never really talked about his wartime experiences, like many of his comrades. There are a few talks I remember having with him about those times though, and some advice he gave to me.

One of the pieces of advice was – “Never be enlisted, always go officer”. Take that as you will. He was in the thick of things.

So – on this day, remember these men and their deeds.

For on the next major anniversary – the 80th – there will be far fewer of them on this earth. If you meet one, greet him or her, and do them an honor. Let them know you remember.

Light a candle tonight, for the fallen.
